Luke Clements is the Cerebra Professor of Law & Social Justice at Leeds University and a solicitor.
Luke Clements is the Cerebra Professor of Law & Social Justice at Leeds University and a solicitor. His research interests concern the role of the law in both exacerbating and combating the social exclusion experienced by (in particular) disabled people and their carers and also the barriers disabled children and their families experience in accessing their social, healthcare and educational entitlements.

Luke helped draft and promote a number of parliamentary bills aimed at improving the rights of people experiencing social exclusion and was the special adviser to the Parliamentary Committee that scrutinised the draft Bill that resulted in the Care Act 2014. He has conducted many cases before the European Commission and Court of Human Rights and continues to act in an advisory capacity for complaints to the Court. Luke has written widely; his books (jointly written) include: Community Care and the Law (Legal Action Group, 2019), Disabled Children: A Legal Handbook (Legal Action Group, 2020) and Carers and their Rights (Carers UK, 2016).
