About the Job

We are looking for an applicant who is bright, well-organised, enthusiastic and self-motivated. You will work with the Finance Director to support the small staff team to deliver our products. You will have a strong attention to detail and be able to work well within a team.

Contract terms
Status: Permanent
Location: Flexible – working from home and a central London office
Hours: 21 hours (flexible on how they are worked within core business hours)
Salary: £27,000 to £30,000 (pro rata) depending on experience
Pension: 8% (min - 6% paid by employer)
Leave 25 days annual leave and bank holidays (pro rata)

Job Description
Job title: Bookkeeper
Reporting to: CEO initially and then to the Finance Director
Job purpose:
To provide a range of book-keeping services, reporting to the Chief Executive/Finance Director.
Principal duties:
Monthly reconciliation of bank and Paypal accounts
Direct debit management and processing
Set up payments in the banking system
Maintain the sales and purchasing ledger on the Xero accounting system
Assist in maintaining membership/subscriber information on the CRM database
Prepare and send out annual membership and other sales invoices
Preparation, monitoring and payment of royalties
Liaise with suppliers, customers, staff and volunteers
Assisting the Finance Director/Chief Executive with budget setting, management accounts and cash flow
Provide ad-hoc financial support and reports to the Finance Director and Chief Executive when required

Confident and keen to improve and automate bookkeeping processes
Knowledge
Strong knowledge of Xero, including inventory management
Book sales/publishing
Royalties
Good knowledge of charity/third sector organisation
AAT/CIMA/ACA/ACCA part-qualified/active study or equivalent experience
Abilities
Methodical and organised with good attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure and to a deadline
Positive attitude to problem solving
Confident to work unsupervised on own and as part of a team
Possess an energetic and resilient attitude
Skills
Professional approach to work and strong interpersonal skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent IT skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
Good time management and organisational skills, with strong accuracy and attention to detail
Experience of bookkeeping using a computerised accounting system
Following and adhering to financial procedures
Part qualified (AAT or similar)
Experience of Xero
Experience of bank reconciliations
