Description: Ros Bragg_LAG chair
We are delighted to announce that Ros Bragg, director of Maternity Action, has been appointed as the new chair of LAG. Ros has more than 20 years’ experience of working on issues of poverty and inequality, and has led campaigns to challenge pregnancy discrimination in the workplace, end NHS charging and stop dispersal of asylum-seeking women during pregnancy. Before joining Maternity Action in 2008, Ros worked in voluntary organisations and the civil service in Australia.
Ros said: ‘I'm absolutely thrilled to be appointed as chair of LAG, which brings together my longstanding passion for expanding access to legal advice, as well as my huge respect for its work. Building on the impressive legacy of LAG, I hope to help navigate the worsening cost of living crisis, when access to justice becomes more important than ever. As always, it is low-income and marginalised groups who are worst affected and least able to challenge poor treatment. LAG does brilliant work in supporting lawyers and advisers who work with the most vulnerable and in campaigning for the changes needed to ensure that everyone can exercise their rights.’
As LAG celebrates its 50th year, we are looking forward to Ros leading us in delivering our vision of a fair legal system that excludes no one – being an authoritative voice and speaking up for justice, delivering education and training and creating opportunities for the exchange of ideas, and publishing and disseminating accessible high-quality and up-to-date legal information and knowledge.
