Description: LALYs
Nominations for the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year awards, organised by Fiona Bawdon and Chris Minnoch for Legal Aid Practitioners Group, remain open until 24 April 2023. The LALYs rely on practitioners, clients and others involved in the social justice sector making nominations for their legal aid heroes and, this year, there is a simplified nomination process, reducing the volume of supporting evidence required to be submitted with the online form.
Please spread the word about the LALYs to all corners of Wales, Northern Ireland and England, and encourage, support or submit nominations for a firm, legal advice charity or practitioner dedicated to using legal aid to make a difference to their clients or community.
There are 11 categories for which the organisers seek nominations:
Legal Aid Newcomer;
Family Legal Aid;
Criminal Defence;
Legal Aid Barrister;
Legal Aid Firm/Not-for-Profit Agency;
Social Welfare Law;
Public Law;
Regional Legal Aid Firm/Not-for-Profit Agency;
Legal Aid Support Staffer;
Children’s Rights; and
Immigration & Asylum.
As usual, the LALY judges will also be making an Outstanding Achievement award.
The winners will be announced at a live, in-person ceremony in London on 12 July 2023. Tickets can be purchased here.
