>APPENDIX B
New applications checklist – crime
You may wish to use the online version of the form CRM14. It gets good feedback from practitioners regarding ease of use. See www.gov.uk/legal-aid-eforms/. •Have the forms been signed and dated by the client and the legal representative?
•Are the signatures original?
•Have you included the client’s National Insurance number?
•Have you addressed the interests of justice test on the CRM14?
•Has the applicant (and partner if appropriate) completed all sections of the CRM15 form and signed/dated it?
•Have you included evidence of means?
•Has the client provided evidence of the benefits they are receiving?
•Have you included any supporting documents? Not always necessary, but if for example you are relying on the client’s previous convictions to tip the balance into a potential loss of liberty case, it is useful to include the PNC print-out.
