After nearly 20 years of editing Legal Action, first as deputy editor and for the last eight years as editor, Louise Heath is moving on to try new things and the December 2023/January 2024 issue was her last.

Louise says: ‘It has been an absolute privilege and honour to work on Legal Action for two decades, such a vital and irreplaceable resource for the social justice sector, those heroes who have dedicated their careers to helping the most vulnerable. I started in 2004 as deputy to the wonderful Val Williams, when Alison Hannah was director and we were based above a drama school in Pentonville Road. A lot has changed since then, but not my pride in the magazine. I leave with the utmost respect for Legal Action’s authors and readers.’

The board of trustees and the staff team would like to thank Louise for all that she has done for the charity. We wish her all the best in her life beyond LAG.

Meanwhile, we are thrilled to announce that we have a new publisher at LAG. Helen Vaux joined in January 2024 and has over 15 years’ experience in legal book publishing, working across most practice areas during that time. Over the past few years, Helen has worked freelance with legal publishers, law firms, charities and small businesses, helping them to create great content and raise their profile. When not dotting Is and crossing Ts, Helen’s side hustles are writing gift books and teaching karate. She says: ‘I’ve really enjoyed my first few weeks with LAG and I’m excited to be part of an organisation that does such brilliant work.’
