Sue James
Chief Executive

Sue brings with her many years of campaigning on access to justice and her front-line experience as a housing solicitor. She is an experienced court duty advocate having spent the last 15 years delivering and running two duty schemes in West London. She is a founding trustee of Ealing Law Centre and has worked in law centres for most of her career. In 2017 she won the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Outstanding Achievement Award. She is co-author of Housing Possession Duty Desk – a practical guide, co-editor of the Legal Aid Handbook and Justice Matters. She has been a regular writer for Legal Action and other media and is a regular speaker on access to justice, housing and legal aid.

Legal Action Deputy Editor

Marc started working at Legal Action Group as a part-time freelance editor in March 2015 and joined full time in June 2015, ultimately taking up the deputy editor post at Legal Action. He has worked in legal publishing since 1998, previously at Legalease and then at LexisNexis.

Bookkeeper

Chris has over 10 years experience guiding London restauranteurs to achieve their financial goals and maximise their revenue. In 2023, driven by a desire to contribute to the nonprofit sector, Chris joined the Legal Action Group. Here, Chris has efficiently streamlined daily transactional tasks, allowing the organisation to concentrate on strategic funding and revenue allocation, ensuring vital support reaches those in need.

Book Publisher

Helen has over 25 years' experience working in publishing, many of which have been in legal publishing, both as an editor and a publisher. She joined Legal Action Group in early 2024 to manage LAG's book publishing, working with authors at every stage of the production process from manuscript to publication.

Kiara McClelland
Events and Communications Coordinator

Kiara joined Legal Action Group in September 2024 as an Events and Communications Coordinator. In this role, she is responsible for planning and executing events while enhancing LAG's communication strategies. Previously, Kiara completed her LLB at the University of Warwick, where she focused on social justice issues and volunteered at legal clinics, allowing her to see the challenge of access to justice faced by underserved communities.
