Setting standards: the future of legal services education and training regulation in England and Wales, the final report of the Legal Education and Training Review (LETR) independent research team, was published in June. The LETR constituted a fundamental, evidence-based review of education and training requirements across regulated and non-regulated legal services in England and Wales. The LETR report also contains the review team’s final recommendations.
The LETR is a joint project of the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Bar Standards Board and ILEX Professional Standards. In the next stage of the project, each regulator will set out a process for addressing the recommendations in the report and consulting formally on any proposed changes.
