Legal Action is going digital
After more than 50 years as a print publication, Legal Action will be going fully digital from the September 2024 issue. This issue will be our last in print, after which you, our valued subscribers, will receive the magazine directly in your email inboxes.
We’ve taken this decision after consulting with our readers (see December 2023/January 2024 Legal Action 10) and it puts us very much in step with most other legal magazine publishers.
The move away from print will have multiple benefits (including being kinder to the environment). It means we can get each issue of Legal Action out to our readers more quickly and the magazine will arrive in a format that is easier for you to share with colleagues within your organisation.
It will also reduce LAG’s costs, after print prices have more than doubled. Moving to a digital-only format will free up resources that can be ploughed into further developing magazine content, a process already started under our new commissioning editor, legal affairs journalist Fiona Bawdon, who joined us in March 2024. These savings mean we can avoid immediate increases to subscription rates. As a result of the switch, we can ensure that the information we provide is as engaging, accessible and relevant as possible to current and future generations of social justice lawyers.
My colleagues will be contacting each subscriber individually over the coming weeks to ensure we have your up-to-date email addresses so that you are able to receive your digital copy of the magazine from the next issue. If you have any questions or suggestions for content you would like to see in Legal Action, please contact me directly: sjames@lag.org.uk.
We want Legal Action to remain at the heart of the social justice community, a forum for sharing knowledge and expertise, leading debate and equipping you with the accurate, targeted legal information you need, that is not available anywhere else, to fully defend and protect your clients’ rights.
We are in an exciting phase of LAG’s development, as we continue to evolve our products and services, and find new ways to deliver them to you. We will continue to keep you updated with our plans – and we are always open to suggestions and feedback.
